Show Summary:

Three longtime friends head out for what they think will be a relaxing, high-end spa weekend. Instead, they find themselves in the middle of a wilderness survival retreat they definitely did not sign up for.

What follows is a weekend that quickly spins out of control as plans fall apart, tempers flare, and long-held assumptions get put to the test.

It is funny, fast-paced, and full of moments anyone who has ever taken a “simple” trip with friends will recognize. A great night out and a perfect way to close the summer season.

Since 1997, this Venice-based bluegrass group has grown to become one of Florida’s most popular bands. Original members Alan Colpitts (bass), Chris Bryson (guitar & vocals), and Bobby Martin (banjo & vocals) are joined by Doug Rowe (lead guitar & vocals) and, most recently, JR Davis (mandolin & vocals). Their performances feature fine musicianship with compelling harmonies and soulful lead vocals. The band’s unique song arrangements are rooted in the traditions of Bluegrass music and are infused with material from other genres such as classic country, rock, gospel and pop music.

Two of Southwest Florida’s most storied acoustic musicians, Andy Wahlberg and Bill Metts will be onstage at the Off-Broadway Palm. Known for transforming the listening room experience into something deeply personal and technically astounding, these two artists embody the ACMA’s mission of fostering original, independent music. This season promises a masterclass in storytelling, spanning the humorous, the heartfelt, and the instrumental virtuosic.

Andy Wahlberg, widely celebrated as "The Harp Guitar Guy," brings more than 45 years of professional performance to the stage. A true entertainer in the vaudevillian tradition, Wahlberg’s act is a unique blend of chameleonic vocals, sharp humor, and jaw-dropping skill on the 18-string harp guitar. Whether he is performing a complex arrangement of "Bohemian Rhapsody" or original scores from his extensive film and television work, Wahlberg’s ability to weave together diverse musical styles ensures a performance that is as unpredictable as it is captivating.

Complementing Wahlberg’s grand style is the soulful, finger-style artistry of Bill Metts. A longtime ACMA board member and host of the local Songwriters Circle, Metts draws from a deep well of American Folk and Country Blues. His work is defined by its intimacy and social purpose; notably, his involvement with "Hope by Song" has seen him help individuals navigate trauma through songwriting. Together, Wahlberg and Metts offer a dual perspective on the Americana genre, merging technical brilliance with the raw, restorative power of the written song for an unforgettable season of live music.

AMERI-KINDA-GRASS= Passerine. These 4 create a sound that is familiar and unique, whether it be a sweet ballad, a foot stompin' bluegrass tune, or a rockin' original. So happy to have them back on our ACMA stage!

Formed in 2009, Passerine’s distinctive sound combines vocal harmonies, the crisp rhythms of an acoustic guitar, the haunting voices of the fiddle and dobro (resonator slide guitar), and the resonant lows of an acoustic bass. With inventive vocal harmonies and songwriting, supported by the sounds of acoustic strings, this dynamic group offers a fresh take on traditional folk and bluegrass music as well as a repertoire of original songs that range from sweet ballads to the edgier side of contemporary Americana.
